HEALING AND HOPE ON HORSEBACK

Makin' Memories Therapeutic Riding Center
At Southern Tier Stables, we are dedicated to providing exceptional equine-assisted therapies through our Makin’ Memories Therapeutic Riding Center led by PATH International certified instructor Donna Minnoe. Our programs are designed to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals with special needs.
Benefits of Equine-Assisted Therapy
Equine-assisted therapies offer a range of physical and emotional rewards. The rhythmic motion of a horse helps improve the rider’s:
- Improved Flexibility and Balance: The horse’s movement encourages a range of motion in the rider’s body, enhancing flexibility and balance.
- Enhanced Muscle Strength: Maintaining an upright posture and interacting with the horse helps strengthen core muscles and overall physical fitness.
- Social and Emotional Growth: The bond between horse and rider fosters a sense of trust, accomplishment, and self-esteem. Therapeutic riding can also encourage interaction and communication with instructors, volunteers, and fellow riders.
In addition to physical benefits, therapeutic riding fosters social and emotional well-being by:
- Developing a bond with the horse
- Encouraging interaction with the horse and volunteers
- Building self-esteem
