Policies
At Southern Tier Stables, we strive to create a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for all our guests, riders, horses, and staff. To ensure a smooth and pleasant experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you review and adhere to the following policies and rules:
Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement
Before engaging in any riding activities at Southern Tier Stables, including trail riding, all riders must sign a Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement. To save time before your arrival at the stables, please download this file, fill out the form and return it to southerntierstables@gmail.com. Upon arrival, visitors must read and understand all signage posted on the property.
Rabies Vaccination
Proof of a certified rabies vaccination administered at least two (2) weeks prior to the event date is mandatory for any horse brought to our facility.
Negative Coggins Test
A negative Coggins test, valid for two (2) calendar years, is also required for all horses.
Helmet
An ASTM / SEI certified equestrian helmet is MANDATORY for all riders under 18. Helmets are available for use by riders taking lessons. Visiting riders bringing their horses must have their own helmet.
Riding Boots
Riding boots with a heel height of one inch or greater are required. NO OPEN TOED SHOES, including flip flops, sandals, or Crocks.
Clothing
Garments should be properly fitting and free of excess fabric that could pose safety hazards. Opt for well-fitting attire that allows for ease of movement.
No Roughhousing
Roughhousing or any form of mistreatment of horses will not be tolerated. Be mindful of your movements and maintain a safe distance from other horses and riders
Supervision
Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Horse Handling
Excessive rough handling or mistreatment of horses is not allowed. No exceptions.
Awareness
Always be mindful of your horse’s behavior and position in relation to other horses and people.
Cleanliness
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our stables clean. Manure forks, muck buckets, brooms, and shovels are readily available for your use. Please leave your designated area as clean or cleaner than you found it.
Respecting Boundaries
Do not approach a horse with the intent to pet, touch equipment, or offer treats without first obtaining permission from the rider or owner.
Leash Requirement
All visiting pets must be leashed at all times while on the premises.
